Blogger was chosen as it is a good, basic and free blog service, which can be made to look good quite easily without messing around with too much HTML. (although this is still possible!)
My actual first blog post was the one I posted about a track by Burial. I was experimenting with putting in images and music via Youtube. It's all pretty simple really, Blogger gives you options to add in videos and images in the editing toolbar on top of the Create form.
I will be doing a lot of this blog from home, and as I can't access Filezilla/the uni network from my house, I have decided to use free webspaces for my uploads. I'm finding Imgur pretty good for images at the moment - it's easy, and really fast to upload, so I'll probably be using that from now on... Not sure about other files yet, I've used Dropbox before, but I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for.
I also learnt to use hyperlinks within the blog: (UWE website), and how to change the font to bold and italic. looking at the HTML code, I can see that all these changes have their own tags which go around the text used.
